The psychic forces are strong in San Francisco. My Zoetrope feels different, more powerful, more in tune, I think it will reveal exciting things.

I’ve been feeling a bit wonky but I’m sure that’s from jet lag and my strange dreams last night that woke me repeatedly. I wasn’t sure if the Zoetrope was spinning or I was imagining it? I could hear a tic tic tic tic tic tic tic coming from the dark corner where I put it. I eventually got up at 5am but when I turned on the light the noise stopped.

I’m starting to feel a bit confused when I look in the mirror, not sure if it’s me or not looking back. My eyes seems strange.

I made that video I was planning. Got up early to do it before I leave for my flight. Watch it to see what I’m going to do at StoryWorld:

Just a few days now till Eva and I fly to San Francisco; I should make a video to explain some of my ideas so people are prepared. Was thinking about it all last night. I couldn’t sleep after the Twitter seance and sat up at Eva’s desk drawing, she was tossing and turning all night and woke up a couple of times screaming that something was crawling across her chest. There was nothing there, I think she was just freaked by some strange Twitter messages and her lightbulb blowing up. I’ve told her it went wrong last night and not to take anything from it, non of it meant anything. I’m sure the lightbulb was just the weather changing.

I’ve been finding out more about this Arthur Warburton Lytton character too and apparently he was known as ‘Prisoner L’ in Alcatraz because he was kept in the high security Block L. Not only that but he was the ONLY prisoner kept there simply because all the other inmates refused to be anywhere near him. Must have been something seriously unhinged about this guy if even the most sadistic guards agreed to keep rapists and murderers away. I drew him three times overnight, tried to get right in his head.

Eleven days until the StoryWorld Conference + Expo starts in San Francisco and I’ve been getting myself prepared for my Zoetrope workshops. I’ve finally got round to building the website for Spirit level Productions and drew up a logo yesterday. Check it out, I think it conveys the right impression of dark magic…

I’ve been researching this really intriguing character called Arthur Warburton Lytton who did some seriously dark stuff back in the 1800s and early 1900s.

He was a Victorian occultist and had some pretty radical theories about life after death but got locked up in Alcatraz for a load of nasty murders before he got to complete his experiments.

Nobody’s really looked into this guy and his strange obsessions but I find him fascinating, especially because he had a Zoetrope too. Here’s what I reckon he looked like, from what I can tell from old newspaper clippings anyway:
